Our Goal: To enable a broader use of bicycles as vehicles for transportation, fitness and recreation.
Our Approach: The development of bicycling niches. Our niche development takes place in 4 arenas.

Product Development:

Wandertec began as a company by developing the CELLO bike case/travel system for BOB Trailers.BikeShopHubLogos.jpg  Product development has continued on as one of our core activities in a variety of forms.  We have continued developing bike accessory products including the SAX liner for a BOB Trailer, the Cargo Net, and the mLite trailer flag light.  Beyond just accessories, we are currently developing our own two wheeled trailer that we hope to have available in 2009.

Niche Online Bike Shops:

The main business activities at Wandertec have been in relation to our webstores, Bike Trailer Shop, Bike Bag Shop and the soon to be launched Bike Kid Shop.  With the strong growth of Bike Trailer Shop, since its start in 2006, we've focused much of our development resources into launching our related niche bike shops.  The Bike Bag Shop features our new shopping cart system.  We are currently working on migrating the Bike Trailer Shop over into this same system.  The new shopping cart offers a better, organized layout, a discount configurator for products combos, improved options for shipping, and navigation between the bike shops that will soon allow shopping from all of the shops at once.

With our focus on specific niches of bicycling, we keep a sharp eye out for new products that are relevant to our web stores.  A primary goal of the Bike Trailer Shop is to offer the largest selection of bike cargo trailers.  We became big fans of Extrawheel trailers starting out first as a dealer and then developing into the US distributor for Extrawheel trailers.

Niche Bike Communities:

The bicycling side of the blogosphere is quite active these days and we enjoy being involved in a variety of capacities.  We write several blogs, including the Bike Trailer Blog, ExtrawheelUSA Blog, and the Wandertec Blog

Spoke-and-Word-2A.jpgWe've also launched a bike community website for submitting and voting on your favorite bike related blog posts.  Spoke And Word is fast becoming a great resource for bike bloggers looking to spread the word about their recent blog posts and bicyclists of all sorts looking for great writing about cycling issues.  Additionally, we have embarked on an ambitious new bike community effort.  We are currently working on launching the new website UtilityCycling.org.  The goal for this website is to define and organize information about this rapidly growing segment of the cycling market.
